When CD players started to become changers and the storage race went from easy to manage 5 disc changer to impossible to use 400 disc changers and new audio product was born the, “changer management system”. Imagine all the books in a library with no way to find the book you’re looking for, that’s what we had before disc management. Escient designed units that used the table of contents information on a disc to give it a “fingerprint” and originally linked that to the information from a huge data base of CDs that it imports and then it lets you use an intuitive on-screen display to look up any song in your library by the title, artist, kind of music or the alphabet. For convenience you can put together play lists of your favorite music for any occasion.
The same systems that have been used to do CD look ups are now being applied to storing your music on a hard drive to allow for multiple users and the changer control system has been extended to DVD changers to help organize your library there as well. The latest software allows you to share the music onto your home network and even share it to portable devices.
